SBHC is a managed property consisting of around 5,000 acres near Perryville. Through our QDM efforts, we strive to maintain a healthy deer population in balance not only with its habitat, but also in balance with its buck-to-doe ratio and its age structure. The results speak for themselves, as the last 8 years in a row the SBHC buck harvest has been comprised of at least 50% 3.5+ year old bucks. This “in balance” well managed deer herd doesn’t over-browse our habitat and helps to contribute to a good turkey population. SBHC members also have opportunities to see and/or harvest a black bear. We’re proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish and consider ourselves to be a premier club in the association.
